Claudie Archer Van Cise 1930-2007

Claudie Archer Van Cise, 77, passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2007 in Corpus Christi, TX. She was born September 8, 1930 in Steiner Valley, TX to Claud T. and Edna Grace Woods Jenkins.

She married Lavoy"Sonny" Archer on October 9, 1946 in Morgan, TX. He preceded her in death on April 23, 1987. She married Frank Van Cise on April 5, 1997 in Corpus Christi.

Mrs. Van Cise worked for over 30 years at Walls Manufacturing and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Cleburne.

Claudie Archer Van Cise is survived by her husband, Frank Van Cise of Corpus Christi; son, Jimmy Archer and wife Susan of Cincinnati, Ohio; daughters, Marleana Cudd and husband, David of Corpus Christi and Delores Covington and husband Don of Paradise, TX; grandchildren, Jennifer Baisden and husband Ralph of Ft. Worth, Robyn Davis and husband John of Haslet, Barry Archer and wife Michelle of Hendersonville, TN, Amberly White and husband Gordon of Gallatin, TN, Dawn Brownlee and husband Tim of Corpus Chrisiti and Ashley Cudd of Corpus Christi; great-grandchildren, Lyndee, Kara, Whitney, Luke, Kendale, Lyndsey and Sydney; extended children, Marlene Fort and husband Ben of Houston, Eileen Garcia and husband Renee of Alice, TX, Kathy Goodson of Ramona, CA, Francie Weir and husband Doug of Devine, TX, Julie Schroeder of League City, TX and Jeremy Van Cise and wife Katey of Houston; and a number of nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters, in-law, extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Grace Louise Stapp and her parents.

July 11 came and went....since it fell on a Wednesday...we are celebrating later. She has another b-day party this weekend and Grayson's baby shower was scheduled for next weekend. I think our plan will make up for the party not being until July 28th.

Everybody got it wrong except the Gators.
Turns out Florida was too good to be on the same field as Ohio State, and that Heisman Trophy winner Troy Smith and the Buckeyes were the ones who weren't worthy.

Coach Urban Meyer's once-beaten Gators dominated the undefeated Buckeyes and streaked to college football's national championship, 41-14 on Monday night.

Florida got all but one of the 65 first-place votes in the final Associated Press poll. Ohio State dropped from No. 1 and finished second.

"Honestly, we've played a lot better teams than them," Florida defensive end Jarvis Moss said. "I could name four or five teams in the SEC that could probably compete with them and play the same type of game we did against them."

Chris Leak and Tim Tebow showed off Meyer's twin quarterback system to perfection as the Gators became the first Division I school to hold national titles in football and basketball at the same time.

Players and coaches waited all day for official word, and when it finally came, they had reason to celebrate -- again.” It doesn't get any better than this, being a senior, going tithe SEC championship and winning and making a lot of noise and then getting to the big game," Lewis said. "Now, we've got one more step and that's to bring home that title.” The Gators (12-1) ended a 10-year title game hiatus, earning their first trip to the championship game since beating rival Florida State in a much-debated rematch following the 1996 season. Thrilling victory likely to kick city's image, fans' esteem up a notch

After two straight losing seasons and an 0-5 start this year, Tennessee Titans fans didn't have much to cheer about.
Don't tell that to anyone now.

Titans fans around the city were ecstatic Sunday after the team's 20-17 victory over division leader Indianapolis. The dramatic win, on a 60-yard field goal in the closing seconds, came a week after a comeback upset of the New York Giants.
"We're the new thing," said Will Hagan of Goodlettsville as he dined at The Sportsgrille at the Hilton Downtown after the game.
"We have a great quarterback, and we're getting there. We're a couple of players away from being not a Super Bowl team, but a playoff team."
The team's recent success seems to have energized a fan base once content to call this a rebuilding year. As the players on the field have improved, so has the attitude surrounding the team.

"If you're a Titans fan and they win, you feel good. It's almost like you get a vicarious winning feeling because they won."

It was over when... Freshman sensation Percy Harvin rushed 67 yards for a touchdown in the first minute of the fourth quarter to put the Gators up by 10.
Gameball goes to... Harvin. The highly-touted wide receiver caught six passes for 105 yards and a touchdown, and rushed five times for 62 yards and another score.
Stat of the game... 4: Turnovers killed Arkansas' chances of pulling an upset and winning its first SEC title. The Hogs threw three interceptions and lost a fumble.

(Sports Network) - The Dallas Cowboys knocked off the last unbeaten team in the NFL on Sunday, but don't crown them kings of the NFL just yet.
Dallas pulled out a hard-fought 21-14 win and saddled the Indianapolis Colts with their first loss of the 2006 season. Indy entered Texas Stadium 9-0 with studs Peyton Manning, Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne among those dreaming of being a part of the NFL's first undefeated team since 1972.
It was Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo who spoiled the plot, rallying his team to victory from a 14-0 deficit. Dallas improved to 6-4 with its second straight win, and moved into a first-place tie in the NFC East with the New York Giants, who lost on Monday night at Jacksonville. Chicago has the best record in the NFC at 9-1, followed by five 6-4 teams in the Giants, Cowboys, Panthers, Saints and Seahawks.
"It's big," Romo said of the win. "We've been trying to get ourselves going with a little momentum here for a while. We needed this win badly."

An "Ugly" Titans Win?

(Sports Network) - When one team is 2-7 and heads into the building of a team many consider a playoff team in the NFC, one expects the outcome to be obvious.
Tennessee's 31-13 romp over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, in the City of Brotherly Love, was shocking to most in tune with the NFL. The Eagles were 5-4, playing in their own building, but the Titans prevailed with some old- school football.
"It was brought to my attention, that in the last six games, we are leading the NFL in rushing," head coach Jeff Fisher said Monday afternoon. "We knew we had to get that part of the game going."
Once again, the offensive star for the Titans was running back Travis Henry. He carried the ball 18 times for 143 yards, including a 70-yard touchdown run.
He was not the only rusher that accumulated some serious yards on the ground. Quarterback Vince Young rushed six times for 49 yards, and LenDale White had eight carries for 17 more yards.
Pretty astonishing how Henry has come on since he was a healthy inactive earlier in the season. That ""dis"-honor now falls on Chris Brown, who hasn't played since Daylight Savings Time took effect.
"All Travis has done since this offseason is work," said Fisher. "He's just kept his mouth shut and worked, and he had a lot to prove. He's certainly proved it."

Lindsay inducted into National Junior Honor Society

Lindsay's school, Rucker-Stewart Middle School values school and community service and involvement because such activities reinforce the school's ethic of selflessness, compassion; civic responsibility and respect for others and in a positive way encourage students to adopt these values in their personal lives. The Rucker-Stewart Honor Society will continue its focus on academic excellence and diligent social service.
In order to apply for membership, students are required to fill out an application, be recommended by all four core subject area teachers, and turn the completed application in to Mrs. Robinson. Student will be evaluated by the five values of citizenship, service, leadership, scholarship and character. In order to be eligible for membership, students must maintain a high grade point average, an 85 or higher, and become good citizens by participating in service projects.

Lindsay and several of her friends were inducted last night. She was nominated as the 7th grade representative.

Mom and Granny House came to visit this past weekend. We got to spend alot of time with them. They drove 800 miles from Ft. Worth, TX just to come and see us. Wasn't that nice of them. LOL

Lindsay's Luau---July 15, 2006

Lindsay greeted all of her guests with a **swack** on each cheek.

As you can see, they are still at the age where this is sooooo uncool.
but that is part of getting ready to party Hawaiian style.

The first game we played was passing the wet sponge over the heads in order to empty both buckets. The object is to make sure that each player gets soaked. The water was COLD and the weather was HOT....great combo I think.

The next game was a beach ball relay. Each player had to run around the buckets with the beach ball between their knees.

This was funny to watch because some of the girls were somewhat vertically challenged.

And what kind of Luau would it be with out LIMBO? And of course, Limber Lindsay won this event with no trouble.

Now that the girls are all dry...it’s time for cooling off with a good ole’ fashioned water balloon fight.

So we gave the girls a break and had some free swim time while Gordon and I got the meal ready. The menu was Hawaiian chicken skewers and meatballs. Lindsay’s mom Dianna made the meatballs from scratch and they were a HUGE hit.

She also carved a watermelon into a basket and made melon balls. It was beautiful.
Next came the cake.....
It was an "itty, bitty....teensy, weensy"....orange and blue polka dot bikini...of course in the colors of the Florida Gators (Lindsay’s favorite football team).

She huffed and puffed and blew all 12 out in one try!

Time for the gifts.

Lindsay’s very first Louis Vatton. She was very excited. Maybe she will let me borrow it some day.

Then Gordon made a call to the local Air Force pilots (yeah right!) that were heading to do a fly by at the local race track and asked them to fly by in honor of the birthday girl. They did one better and flew by 8 times. They were moving so fast that it was hard to get a good shot of them, but this is what we were able to get. The girls were totally amped about this.

It was a great party...even though at the end we were all totally pooped. Even Peanut and Chance.

Some of the greatest joys of living in the country are the amazing things you see that you can never see anywhere else. We had the pleasure of seeing this Albino Deer several nights in a row. As you can see, he was very friendly. We all got to pet him. The kids named him Rob, because he would "rob" the grapes from their hands. Lindsay is the blonde in most of these pics.

So I have been here since 6AM today (at work) and I have written a total of 3 e-mails of substance. The rest of the day I have done NADA....I mean NOTHING!!!!! I hate days like this. So I thought that I would show you some of the tornados did this year back in April.....some of these hit about 2 streets over from our house. Luckily we were ok and the house had no damage.

In case you haven't met him....this is the King of the House.....Rocky. He is the love and hate of our lives. He just had a birthday, so he is now 1 year old. He is spoiled ROTTEN!
